Could be nice to be able to play in higher quality as flac, wav.. etc.. ??
Would be fantastic to have an option to choose higher quality formats to play, without converting to mp3..
Also alternative an option to choose output to a DA Converter from different output source etc. optic, HDMI, COAX for more pro result :-)
Thanks. Dan

You can remove the transcoding from flac to mp3 in: settings->transcoding. Removing the transcoding will stream the flacs directly.

Am not sure if it that easy, one will need a direct codec to read and play the flac, wav, etc. and ffmpeg is not enough or good enough.. !!

This option does not work in the web player at all and that's where I need it most at this point. If it did I would be reripping all my audio to flac. I need a single format that works across all methods of playback. I prefer Flac but Opus would do but for now all I get is mp3. Yes, if you stream to a mobile client like Dsub flac will work fine but using the webplayer is a no go. I have complained of this for some time and no one has listened. using trancoders SUCK!

Oh, I had no idea. But, I believe Sindre is planning to use an HTML5 player in the future (dunno when), maybe this solve your problem

I am actually looking into "Audiophile Linux" at the moment. Since Subsonic is not able to play direct high quality formats to my home Stereo.
This is totally free. It has a LOT of features, like, built in different DAK drivers, players, just to mention a few.
Some nice features here :), maybe something Sindre should aim for with Subsonic in future.
I would believe there is a huge market for quality system/player/streaming, in future when more and more CD is disappearing from market/shops, and people buying high quality music online .. :)
Thanks
Dan

The opposite case is needed also. I have a friend with severely restricted bandwidth, and it would be nice to let him throttle his transcoding to, say 128kpbs mp3.
