Continue playing the play queue when switching devices

Postby richardap1 » Tue Feb 10, 2015 11:53 am

I think a handy feature would be able to be playing something on the web player then pick up a mobile device and have the ability to load the play queue there. I realise I could probably save the play queue as a playlist, but i would end up with many playlists that i would have to clean out. The other possibility would be that i hand recreate the playlist on the mobile manually, but I'm lazy and would love to just be able to hit one button when i leave the house or get in the car and continue where i left off. Same in reverse would be good to.

I brought up something like this in the API discussion group. If the apps writers could collectively agree on a practice re: the 'bookmarks' API, we could all implement something like this where each app would rely on the bookmarks established by the other apps. It would involve standardizing the syntax for the 'comment' field to know the context of the song at the time it was playing and paused (e.g., in a playlist? in an album? in something random?).
