It would be great if users could create playlists that they share (like they do know - they are more or less public), but that no one but the owner of the playlist could delete. Or maybe only the owner and those with admin rights could delete.

It would also be great for a user to be able to mark a playlist as public or private.

Simple way to implement this:

Make the playlists directory writable.

Make it so each user has their own subdirectory within the playlists dir.

eg;

/var/subsonic/playlists/awpti
/var/subsonic/playlists/admin
/var/subsonic/playlists/joebob

Admin can see every playlist, but each user can only see their own unless the playlist is marked as public.

That would be awesome! Hopefully Sindre can work that into a future release!

That's the only important missing feature to me in Subsonic. And may be also a feature to share a link to a specific title/folder/playlist. That would be perfect and I will donate for sure when these features will be implemented.

I agree.... I am just now sharing my music using Subsonic. It would be nice if users could have their own private playlist that they could share with all other users but only if they wanted to.
Now all playlists are global so it means someone could delete everyone's playlists.
