Ability to remove unwanted entries from database.

Postby toolman » Mon Sep 05, 2016 12:41 am

I know I can do a database clean up to remove some information about non-existing files.
But I can't remove entries concerning Genres I have edited.
A lot of my music is incorrectly tagged. But when I correct the genre tags they'll still be showing up in my database. When I filter my albums by genre I get a list of over 100 genres with a lot of them with 0 albums, like:
live (0)
80s (0)
nice music (0)
R&B/R&R (0)
alt (0)
I just want a simple way to remove this information from the database because it's annoying. Even rescanning and cleaning up the database multiple times doesn't remove these entries.
Thanks.

I was struggling with the same issue of having lots of genres showing 0 Albums. Looking through genres on the dsub app on my phone I found the problem - I had individual songs tagged with the rogue genres...editing these tags allowed the clean up of the genres showing 0 albums

Thanks for your suggestion.
I was experimenting with the Api getSongsByGenre.
This shows which individual songs were tagged wrong.
So I could use that as a way to clean up my DB.
However I still have some genres which aren't associated to any songs in my list.
I guess I'll just destroy my current installation and start from scratch. It's about 10 minutes of clicking and configuring.
I do think that Sindre should make it easier to edit and repair the database, though.
