Hi,

maybe it's already possible, but I cannot find the option for it:

I'd like to navigate by clicking album art/pictures with streight binding to the real folder structure.

Here comes my music file and folder structure:

1990s
... folder.jpg
... Beasty Boys
... ... folder.jpg
... ... 1986 - Licensed To Ill
... ... 1992 - Check Your Head
... ... ... folder.jpg
... ... ... 01 - Jimmy James.mp3
2000s

As you can see, each folder has it's own album art - also if it is only a container e.g. 1990s and the Beasty Boys root folder.

With MediaPortal and others, it is possible to have a complete picture-based navigation structure.

Is it possible to have this view layout in subsonic also?

One additional note: At the moment, subsonic shows all sub-albums on the top level. I'd like to switch this off in order to have a pure folder based structure.

We sort of already have that. The list on the right is all the folders inside of the folder that you added to subsonic. When you click on that, if there are more folders inside of it, then they show up in the main frame. From there you can drill down further. It's not a treeview per se, but you do see all of you folders just as they are on the disc.

Album art, on the other hand, is shown for tracks. Album art is associated with music files, not really folders. So when I go to a folder that has many levels of subfolders, the album art that shows is for each leaf node (an album) even if those albums are directly in that folder, they show their art because they are in subfolders of the folder I'm in. It's possible for a folder to be both and "album" and contain subalbums. Like if I just threw some loose tracks into Beastie Boys, and then had their albums, the associated album art for that Beastie Boys folder would show up.

well on the right side the folder structure is correctly shown. But the album shown also contain thus of subfolders.

Can I disable scanning for sub-albums?

Why would you make the root folder the year?

The Godfather is a great program for restructuring your collection. I have a huge amount of music and simpler is better IMHO.
