cool. but i was wondering if it was possible for the shoutbox to be able to be seen on all pages? no just under the users tab. maybe the shoutbox could have a frame on the right side?

I was wondering that too - I think that is the best place for it. The downside to having it on the right is that it might run off out of the screen to where it's not noticeable without scrolling to the right.

I've tweaked around a little bit and have settled on placing mine at the bottom of the left pane where the folder index is. It eats into the space allotted for the index, but it's visible on every page. It works.

I noticed in the Todo list kept by Sindre that he lists he is putting it in the Right hand frame.

wow thats cool. i wonder how the shoutbox will be because some of the shoutboxes ive seen require you to register. will the one sindre is implementing gonna be built into the subsonic code (so you dont need to register for one) and generate logs of all that has been entered into the shoutbox?

Hi,

Although the todo-list says so, the shoutbox will probably not come in 3.7, but I hope to add it in a later release.

I have only looked at it briefly, but most likely I'll implement some simple shoutbox myself rather than use a third-party which requires registration.

a shoutbox (a small chat would be even greater, but maybe thats asking too much ) would be a huge feature to have, i totally agree on that it would make a great addition (sp?) (bump, request++)

The shout box that is referenced in the thread link above is actually not that hard to implement (and I am a novice at best when it comes to tinkering with code).

You can place it where you like it best and it's a good remedy for added social interaction on the site until Sindre has time to implement a proprietary shout box or chat.
