It would be great if we could have some sort of way to direct a user to a certain track. A way to send a link to a track that they could then add to their current playlist.

Agree. One can create and send a link to an album, but opening the link simply opens the main frame only in a browser window.

I agree. I sometimes find myself listening to a new song and want to share it though Instant Messenger.

Please add this.... this would be so useful, and it was requested well over a year ago.

agreed, please add this. "sharing" of any type is a pretty common piece of functionality and definitely adds to the user experience of any product (in this day and age of social networking).

aside from that, great product

I agree. This is something I've been wanting. I'll get a new song or something and want to throw a quick link to a friend in IM or something so they can just listen to the song. Something really simple that just lets a direct link to a play-only instance of the player would be excellent.
To work around i created a demo user in my player, then i have to tell the user to login and click on my song that i'm playing to get there..

Not very elegant and rather cumbersome but meanwhile:
Login as guset account.
Create a playlist from the current set of songs/album.
Once created you can download every song separatly.
Grab the download link and shorten it.
Share that download link with whoever has a guest account access

(ask whoever to log in login guest / pass before trying to download the son form the link)

If you do it from your own account then the guset account will not be able to access the download link....

Actually, I just discovered an easier way.

(it could also be a security issue, so beware)


1. Create a playlist. It will be automatically added to your subsonic podcast. The subsonic podcats link http://yourhostname/podcast is still private.
But if you go on that link yourself you will see the stream link.

That stream link is public and you can share it with whoever. It's like that:
http://youhostname:port/podcast.view?suffix=.rss

The direct public link to the playlist looks like that:
http://youhostname:port/stream?playlist ... uffix=.mp3

Replace in it:
youhostname
port
your-playlist-title

Of course for sharing one song you still need to make a playlist with only one song in it. A bit weird.
