Request to have Usernames not be case sensitive

I would like to see usernames not be case sensitive at login. I know of many times people have had problems logging in because they are using "Username" instead of "username" or vice cersa.

I agree, usernames should not be case sensitive.

Along these lines, I would love to see the user names in the users page NOT be sorted with case sensitivity. As it is right now, I have a user that starts with a capital "J" at the top of every list, then the "a" users right below him.

Not a huge deal, just nitpicking...

*Push*

Usernames should never be case sensitive.
Also when login over LDAP, the username set should be LDAP's answer, not what user has typed. (Win: sAMAccountName, Lin: uid)

It's very annoying to correct, reset, kill and manage User accounts because of this. A 3 letter username can have 8!! Accounts...

xxx
XXX
Xxx
xXx
xxX
XXx
xXX
XxX

Well, I'm more in PHP, but at least I was able to modify the SubsonicLdapBindAuthenticator to create Users from LDAP's sAMAccountName.
Users who are misstyping their name are being created correctly but cannot login :P

I agree. My browsers default to an uppercase first letter. Annoying.

I don't agree. It's quite simple to remember a username. There is added security by have case sensitivity. I do no support adding this.

I DEFINITELY want to keep the usernames case sensitive. Sindres if you decide to give users the option to NOT have case sensitive usernames please be sure to make it a tick box option for administrators so the option can be enabled or disabled.
