3.7 Wishlist

Hey Sindre, I really like the 3.7 updates, especially removing the cap to the results.

I was wondering if the first page of results could have a greyed out "previous" so that when you click next it doesnt move the button on the following screen.
Also I noticed if using the Clean and Cool theme if your search results have a really long name (long enough to reach the graphic of the headphones) it will cut into the image with cells. Obiously this is not a big deal but maybe if the cells were to be transparant we could avoid it.
I believe this has already been mentioned but having the main search only search titles is a bit cumbersome as I now have to search twice to find an artist and you need to clear the title field before your second search.
I know I mentioned it last release but I would still really love to see check boxes in the search result with "check all" to speed up playlist building. It's even more apt now that there is a stronger search utility that can search only artist/album tags.

In closing I really love the player being snapped to the top. Also next/previous buttons for track selection is great.
Thanks for the continued development of Subsonic.

Hi and thanks for your feedback, they are all valid points I think.

I hope to further improve the search functionality along the lines you mention, but I doubt it will happen in 3.7.

Thanks again,
Sindre

I just noticed there is no "Next" "Previous" at the bottom of the search results forcing one to scroll to the bottom to read the contents, then scroll back up to continue.
A second set would be nice to expediate navigation.

Additionally when searching the album name lists as a hyper link. When clicked it seems to refresh the folder where the file resides.
I believe you did this as a way to search for just that album.
In my scenario however, albums are not organized by folder. So clicking this link actually loads a multi thousand entry folder.
If it were possible to have the hyper link pipe a command to the search album field that would be a more exact.

I dont know if I'm being very clear. I would happily expand if you're unsure.

(3.7 was just a title. These feature requests are mostly just a result of my music filing system. No rush)

If this is the 3.7 wishlist, I'd like to add something.

I just tried another media player called jaangle.com, and it automatically downloads the bio of the band when you have the band selected. This is really cool.

While the auto download would be ultra-cool, how about displaying the contents of bio.txt on the right side of the screen when viewing the albums. I wouldn't think popping up a text box should be overly complicated.

Not sure about others, but I have a ton of empty realestate on the right side.

Take a look at this player to see what's possible.

This player auto downloads all artwork, biographies and album reviews. Pretty slick.

Random Playlist

This is my first post in this forum, so the important things first: Subsonic ROCKS!

I just wanted to add another feature request/idea. Subsonic displays a random list of albums, which is a great feature! But then you have to click the albums and i.e. randomly add songs of the albums one after another. As far as i can see it is not possible to create a random playlist with just 1 click.

So I thought of a button to create a completely random playlist with a number of (dropbox) 10,50,100,200,... songs. With songs picked from the directory/directories according to the what is selected on the left menu.

This "playlist creation thingy" could be even extended further so it would pick songs from newest/highest rated/.... titles. These categories do already exist in subversion, just the "create random playlist"-button is missing. ;-)

Hope you got an idea what i mean, let me know what you think about it.

Regards,
A-Hoernchen

Click on the 'more' button to create random playlists.

I'm sorry, i really missed that one!

So please dismiss the original request, but the "extended" playlist creation possibilities i described would still be a nice to have. :)

+1 to add check boxes/easy queuing in search results!
