Transcode only when Acessing over the Internet

I have a large mostly FLAC library. I can play them directly without transcoding in Firefox and other apps I use, which is what I'd like to do most of the time when I am on the same network. BUT if I am accessing my library over the internet, I'd like it to transcode for bandwidth reasons.

Is this a possible future feature? It would make my life so much happier. I don't want to stream FLAC over the internet, but I totally want to stream FLAC to the next room over.

I've not tried this or had the need to play in this area, but you can associate a Transcoding with a Player device(User) and then the transcoding defined will be used when that User connects using that device.
