Tag lib/Tag editor bug(s) and ability to mass rename tags

A huge number of albums I have are not showing up as tagged properly. Frequently the last letter will be missing from artist/album/track and even more often they show up without track info or show up as all track #1. Then when I go into the tag editor to fix this, it has an option to suggest track #'s but it does not sort the tracks by filename so this function is not useful. Typically my songs will be labeled with track numbers, so if it loaded the tracks into the tag editor in alphanumerical order, the suggest function in the tag editor would work properly. Not sure what's causing all these bugs with the tags.

One last thing, how about the ability to mass rename genre/aritst/album by folder structure? I have all of my songs sorted in this hierarchy. How about a way to save hierarchy in settings, and a one touch button to rename albums in the tag editor, or a mass-rename view?

If I remember correctly, the tag editor tries to be somewhat smart. It sorts the files by track number (if it exists in the tag), or else alphabetically. If all files have the same track number, I guess the sort order is undefined.

Regarding mass update: I would recommend using a tool which specializes in tagging, such as Media Monkey. The tag editor in Subsonic is really just suited for simple manual editing, and will probably never extend beyond that.

I suppose the solution would be to upgrade or fix the tag lib subsonic uses, since it shouldn't be detecting entire albums as track 1. Wat does subsonic use as a tag lib?

Subsonic uses Entagged library (http://entagged.sourceforge.net) for tag parsing and editing. I've had a look and it looks very much like development has been discontinued...

I have tried contacting the developer today on another tag issue. Will post if I get a response.

Yes, Subsonic is suitable only for simple manual editing.
As for me, I use a far more powerful program called mp3Tag Pro. It can easily handle thousands of files at once in batch jobs, like renaming, tagging etc.
