Gapless Playback

Postby vassie » Tue Jul 21, 2009 9:26 am

Subsonic is pretty impressive, however, gapless playback would make it perfect for me, is it possible to get the flash player to read the header of the MP3, and start buffering the next track if needed?
Thanks

that would be great. I have a lot of albums, which you can listen to only with gapless playback. I wonder if this is possible?

Would love to have this feature, seems like it's the only thing left. :) Freaking love Subsonic.

I don't no if that would be possible due to the limitations of the flash player.
But i could be wrong :?:

implementation

Postby JoelRSimpson » Thu Jul 15, 2010 5:17 pm

Yes, that could be a problem. You might have to have two players and swap them back and forth so that while one is playing the current song, the other is buffering the next song and when one ends, the next starts. If that is what is required, making it completely seamless would probably be difficult. I would be ok with a little 'tick' sound artifact. Close would be good enough for me.

Dang, this could mean I will not purchase this. Glad I found out now. The gaps are annoying.

+1, gapless playing is a must for classical music (opera's and such).

Streaming

Postby ontwerp » Fri Jan 28, 2011 11:59 am

Flash could be streaming the current: meanwhile when finished also
prestream 30 seconds of the next and previous one [to be sure]...
This is not an issue more with jwplayer isn't it??

Edit: streaming from one php binary source [cache] and so it should word gapless... Or at JWPlayer: s1.addVariable("streamscript","stream.php");

Well I donated anyway. There really isn't anything better out there. I am going to say it again though, this is my biggest beef. I would love to hear from one of the developers on this. Is it possible? Are ya on it?
