I just quickly read through the posts in this category, so forgive me if someone already said something about this. But how about video transcoding, preferably to flash?

It would be cool to upload videos, in whatever format (avi, mpg, mov, etc), and then have something like FFmpeg or MEncoder transcode the formats into FLV.

I've been looking into doing this myself, using FFmpeg, FFmpeg-PHP, and Flowplayer to make a video library. I probably could make something simple, which is all I need...but it would be even better if this was already in Subsonic! Possibly as an add-on/mod, maybe?

I also read in a few posts that Subsonic is getting a new flash makeover, so this might be easier to implement once that happens. I don't know much about flash, so I could easily be completely wrong. It would also be cool to use Silverlight, like Netflix currently uses for Firefox, Safari, and Chrome.

It's just a thought. Anyone else want to see the Subsonic Music Streamer become the Subsonic MEDIA Streamer?

well i've been looking for something like a webmedia server for ages with no luck so far...
What did i found? an amazing webbased application to listent to music from a virtual server! that's a great found, and it's just the begining, i'm sure.

Well, i had another idea, something deeper than just recognise video files.
Here it is:
so i would love have a webbase application which could allow me to listen to some music, watch video from a personal server. In fact the idea is to share to some friends, that live in the same building as i am, my multimedia files. I think that It would be possible true a privat network, by a lan network or a wifi one.
But first Subsonic have to recognise video files.

Oh and does the staff need some people to create more graphic interface? because i would love to help this great project/team to increase the variety of proposed theme.

I just wish it would be possible someday!
