REST API for controlling web-/flashplayer

is it possible to control a running webplayer? I have a browser with my subsonic session open and I use the webplayer to listen to my music.
I was thinking of writing a KDE plasma applet to show the current playlist (already possible I guess) and add some play/pause, prev, next buttons.
Is this possible?
