Listening to podcasts

Postby p2ranger » Wed Jan 13, 2010 2:28 am

The main reason I began looking for something like Subsonic was to get away from iTunes. Unfortunately, it has the best Podcast management. Subsonic has been great at replacing iTunes for my music listening needs. Here is what I miss about it that I wish Subsonic could do.

I typically listen to podcasts on my portable device (driving, exercising, etc). Currently on my iPod but would like to move over to my Android Phone.

I have a set list of about 14 podcasts that update at different intervals. I want to be able to listen to which ever of the episodes of the podcasts that I haven't listened to yet. And if I was in the middle of a long podcast when I stopped, I want it to pick up where it left off. In iTunes I had a smart playlist that would load from that selection of podcasts and it would only load the ones that had a 0 play count. Currently, subsonic only does play count by directory, not file. When I had finished listening to that episode, it disappeared off the playlist.

I would like to be able to pull up on my android player the playlist for my podcasts, choose the one at the top of the list, and have it be the next one that I haven't listened to yet. The ones I've listened to do not show up.

I would also like to have Subsonic auto delete any podcasts that have been listened to already.

There is my feature request.

There is an android app called DoggCatcher that works great for downloading, managing and listening to both audio and video podcasts.
Give it a try.

http://www.snoggdoggler.com/

It can be downloaded from the Android Market.

I think I tried MediaFly, but determined DoggCatcher was better suited for my needs.

+1, this would be really nice, if it's technically possible.
