Hi
I tried to encode a movie as a windows media streaming format and it works nicely, but...
Is there any way skipping / fast fwd would be possible in subsonic?

Hm, can't think of an easy way to do that, I'm afraid.
It would, amongst other things, require that Subsonic reads and interprets the video data, which is clearly beyond the scope of the application.

i was gonna request streaming video as a 'feature request' but after reading this post, looks like it's already possible. is converting the file to a windows media streaming file format the only way this is possible? Is there a way to encode video files on the fly, like what is already setup for the music files through subsonic?

Hi,
You don't have to convert to windows media. It's basically a question of what your player supports. In general, the VLC player is really good at supporting a multitude of streaming video formats - you might wanna give it a try.
In theory, Subsonic supports any transcoders, also for video, but I haven't experimented with that.
