Disc Number Ignored

The disc number field seems to be ignored, so live music shows that span multiple discs play out of order (all the track 1's are together, etc.).

I think this is fairly crucial actually. I can't listen to any multi-piece albums in their intended order without manual rearrangement.

I think there was a discussion some time back about this, and it was supposedly convention to do Artist\Album\CD1, Artist\Album\CD2 for some reason.

I have multi CD releases stored in the same folder, and I have also noticed the same thing discussed here.

If There are two cd's the file naming scheme incorporates a 3 digit track number. The first digit being which disc, and the subsequent two digits being which track number on the according disc.

ie: 113 actually means Disc 1, Track 13.

When I Have a two CD Release with such a naming scheme, Subsonic does not properly interpret the meaning of the 3 digit track number listings.

Of course this is a directory listing, where as Subsonic attempts to read the meta tag data from the files. However because of the 3 digit track numbers that are set in the meta tags of the files, Subsonic will not properly read and display the track numbers from the meta tags.

I number mine like this too. I don't want to have to rename all my files to put them in disc directories. It would be more useful to take the disc number from the tracknumber or id3v2 tag.

I agree on this subject. My files are named very similar to Tanners, just without the underscores. I'd like to listen to my albums in order or at least be able to distiguish between them somehow.

The only program I've found that adds Disc IDs that are interpreted by Subsonic is the Picard application from Musicbrainz.org

It doesn't let you add disk IDs directly, but has a plugin that will look for "Disc 1" etc in the name, and convert that to a tag.

I've yet to figure out what tags it adds, but anything processed with it is sorted correctly by Subsonic.
