Add ability to embed art into the tags

Postby linuxman » Wed May 12, 2010 3:03 pm

I found that unless the art is embedded in the tags that zunes and ipods and other music players will not display the album art as the songs are playing. I notice also on the android app when in offline mode the album art isn't displayed either so it could help there as well if the android app can read the embedded art tag from the files. Just some small things that would help manage the tags a lot easier. I use mp3tag and it is beastly slow compared to doing it within the server. Been around a long time since 1.x and bud you've done a fantastic job on this thru the evolution of it all and proud to have donated and will again my friend. Oh btw is the android cross compiled for 2.1 as my phone will go to that soon?

One of the reasons why I avoid iTunes is that it embeds the album cover using tags in each and every mp3 file if you provide your own cover.

So I hope that Subsonic will not force the embedding.

No I don't want a force just the option to embed the existing album art if I want to. The embedded album art is how ipods, zunes, and almost all the other players on the market display the album art of the playing music and I'm sure a lot of people who run subsonic use the same repository for the music they load any music players and such. And I agree I hate itunes....I load my ipods by not having anything in my library and I found I can drag and drop folders or songs directly on the ipod icon in itunes and never have to deal with itunes managing anything. Its amazing the arrogance of apple in never making that software anything other than a clunky slow intrusive piece of crap.
