Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC)

So I got an android phone and I was looking for a good solution for streaming my large music collection in itunes to my phone.

Subsonic seems perfect EXCEPT i have more than half of my music encoded in ALAC for archival purposes. I know apple never released the API or documentation on their codec, but it has been reverse engineered for every OS so I don't see why it would be a problem to include it as an option.

Right now when i stream an ALAC song I'm pretty sure subsonic think's it's a 800+ kbps M4A file and i get a bunch of white noise (very unsettling while driving).

If this missing feature could be resolved i'd definitely donate, but this is really a show-stopper for me. I hope the developers are willing to expand their codec selection.

Thanks!

I'd definitely donate as well. The only thing holding me back is my large ALAC collection as I don't have the time to convert it all to FLAC.

Yeah I've tried those methods, i tried using macports to build ffmpeg but it failed, so I downloaded a built binary of it and that still didn't work. I made sure it was enabled and honestly worked on it for a few hours, no luck.

If someone could write an exact guide for a workaround that would be great, but as it stands i'm totally confused since all the solutions i've found and tried haven't worked.
