 Rhythmbox integration (plugin a la Last.fm)

Hi,

First up: I'm a very satisfied user and will probably donate a second time.

I would like to link the music straight into Rhythmbox to play it while I use the computer. I often close the web-browser and it's quite frustrating when it happens :)...

I assume that Last.fm is streaming music in a very similar fashion as Subsonic. Quite likely that the underlying platform is Java based too. Might be possible to get the code and just point it on a variable server, same API?

While DAAP would be a solution that doesn't exclude all those Windoze and Mac users, I think that quite a few of us users would be very happy to link it to Rhythmbox on other home computers and then to stream through Rhythmbox.

Bump your support for the idea - Thanks!

I have often wished for such a feature in Banshee...

I'm going to bump this for you and say that it'd be a fantastic idea!

I have the same problem, where I often want to close my web browser, and I don't want to load a 200GB music library using NFS over the network into Rhythmbox.

What I'd like to be able to do is to have a similar UbuntuOne-like addon in Rhythmbox and stream the songs over the network instead.

I'd try it myself if I wasn't so useless at figuring out where to get started!

Isn't this a good idea that's more likely to get implemented if posted on the Rhytmbox forum/mailing list/issue tracker/whatever?

I think this is a wonderful idea as well, except that I would want it for Banshee instead of Rhythmbox... In fact I would tackle it myself if it were not for the fact that I don't know how! Hopefully someone will be able to come up with something that could be dropped into either application without too much re-working...
