Looks like the "-async 1" setting is the difference. It seems there is no way to select a start time on the player when transcoding VOB files though. But at least they're playing now. try this: - dont change your transcoding settings in subsonic
- rip your dvd to a single .vob-file.
- copy file to your subsonic video folder
- rename file from .vob to .mpg
