I strongly agree with #6. This is the biggest feature I feel Subsonic is lacking. I love Subsonic's implementation, and feel that it's far superior to similar applications that I've tried. However, it would be much more useful to me if I could limit which folders a particular user has access to.
A couple of use-case examples:
1) I want to give kids access to a "Kids" folder, but prevent them from listening to, say, Cradle of Filth (I don't personally have kids, but I think this is probably a concern for many people who do).
2) I want to set up a user to connect with on my Android phone that does not have access to video folders (I know this is easily worked around by selecting the appropriate music folder in the app, but it would be nice to just eliminate the option).
3) I want to permit my friends access to a folder containing freely distributable media, but not a folder containing copyrighted media.
4) To take it a step further, I may want to permit a user to download from folder A, but only to stream from folder B.
5) Even further, I may want to allow users to upload files, but only in a specified "upload" folder, so as to allow uploading of files without the potential for mucking up my painstakingly organized music directories.
The ideal implementation of this feature (in my opinion) would be to simply add a list of available folders to the user administration page ( Settings -> Users ), with three checkboxes--one for "play," one for "download," one for "upload"--next to each one.
If any of these access limitations are already possible, I would be grateful if someone would explain how it is achieved. As far as I've been able to tell, it can't be done.
