BUG: On Android play failure notification icon cant be rem..

Postby mr2web » Fri May 06, 2011 10:25 am

Hello and thank you for a superb system!! I'm loving it.
I'm a quite a new user of the Subsonic system. I have come across a bug in the Android application. What is the problem is when play fails, the notification icon and message in the status bar is impossible to clear off. It stays there until one force kill the subsonic process. I suppose by tapping on the failure message on the status bar drawer it should be cleared and go away, right?

The error message I get follows:
'Error playing "<song title>"
Prepare failed.: status=0x1 (IOException)'

I'm running:
- Android 2.1 update 1. Base version 2.1.54 on an Sony Ericsson X10i.
- Subsonic android app version 2.7 (this is the version number given by the app manager in the ASTRO app. The Android standard app manager it states its version 32).
- Subsonic server version 4.4 (build 2169)
- Server host: Linux Fedora core 10

How to replicate this bug:
I get a play failure when trying to play a music file that has to be transcoded from FLAC to MP3 and the transcoding fails. I haven't got transcoding to work yet. I'll post another post regarding that later on i the help forum. This is not just while trying to play such a file from Android, the transcoding fails with all attempts to go through with it from any player.
When playing such a file from the android app it will naturally fail and show a notification icon and messages in the status drawer. Pull down the status drawer and tap on the failure message to clear it. The error message show up on a dialog. When tapping on the "OK" button the dialog goes away but the notification on the status drawer is still there.

If you need more info please don't hesitate to get in touch.

I'll bet your .flac doesn't contain some necessary tags. I was lazy and didn't include it for you here, but search for posts by me and you'll find one that is in a thread that shows how to change your flac > mp3 transcoding settings on the server that will fix this for you.
