Android Client - Subsonic, Google Navigation, and Bluetooth

Postby Trupal00p » Tue Jul 05, 2011 3:03 pm

Hello Sindre,

Subsonic RULES!!

Ok now that's out of the way, there is one issue that I am having with subsonic.

It occurs whenever I use subsonic in combination with Google Navigation over a bluetooth connection to my car stereo. If subsonic is playing at the same time as Google Nav is trying to give instructions, the instructions are played at an extremely low volume rendering them inaudible. (It doesn't occur without the bluetooth connection, nor does it occur when I pause subsonic and use Google Navigation over bluetooth.)

This issue did not occur until I upgraded to Gingerbread from Froyo. I suspect the issue may have arisen due to the way Navigation/Subsonic utilize the android.media.AudioManager.OnAudioFocusChangeListener as the issue doesn't arise with the stock media player that comes with Gingerbread.

I was attempting to solve the issue on my own and then submit a patch to sourceforge. However, my lack of java/andoid experience and unfamiliarity with subsonic's inner workings is slowing me down significantly.

Maybe you can take a crack at!

Let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks,
Dave

Phone: Droid Incredible
Android Version: 2.3.3

This happens to me sometimes, with no bluetooth ever used. Haven't figured out if there is any specific way to make it happen (or rather not happen) yet.

i dont use the audio for the nav but since you have CM7 i would suggest maybe checking the settings under cyanogenmod settings>sound. there are settings there that change the attenuation and sound of notifications while music is playing and such. just a thought.

The same thing happened to me on my stock EVO 4g. I just updated to an EVO 3D, so I get to figure it all out again. It'll be interesting to see if the same problem is there. I suspect it's a Gingerbread issue.

Turns out its a bug in android:

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15690

Cyanogen is also tracking the problem:

No resolution in sight however...

Thanks for the update. I did test it on my EVO 3D. Same problem. We need better insecticide, there are just too many bugs.
