Just a thought,
1. Being abel to control which files a user has access to, example if you stream movies and music, being abel to only let them see the music.
2. As above but to block content they may not be abel to stream, depends on phone, computer etc some extensions may not be abel to be played so to stop the frustration of continually choosing a file that he/she may not be abel to play.
3. Content filter, my kids are not old enough yet but in the future would like them not to have access to my "2 live crew" collection lol.

this would be a great feature ...
but i don't think that it is usefull to set resctrictions per file ...
it would be easier to restrict the "sharing" of the media folders

I agree with a "parental control" of some sort, I would like to have a time limit ,or better yet a time parameter that my son can listen, like user Xyz can log in within the hours of 3PM and 8PM only.

hmm if you just want to limit the accesstime from XX:XX to XX:XX it may be suitable to think about an own squid / squidguard ACL ...
highly configurable and no need to mess around within SS .
