library filters

I have my music library sorted by author, so in my case, subsonic show ~3.000 author entries on the left side bar, sometime it's hard chose what to play
It would be nice if will be possible to set up a filters that allows you see only some subset of the entire music collection. I mean, each user can create they own library choosing they favorite authors, or create filters based on music gender.

I have "implemented" this feature creating folders containing symbolic links to the author's folder and then add those folders to media folder settings. It would be nice if subsonic implement this functionality on their web interface.
