RAW streaming

Postby jayw654 » Fri Oct 14, 2011 12:46 am

In need of a higher quality broadcast format. So far Subsonic transcodes everything on the fly to FLV while I'm not apposed to a flash format I would like to see F4V added and be able to stream it raw without the transcoder getting in the way. People can control the bitrate by converting the video lower themselves and this would give a better end result. Another item which goes along with the request being able to seek to different points in the movie would be nice too. I know as is it can do it partially has the video must be playing for long enough for the server to transcode the content but this is a bit clunky at best. Another format which works well you may consider is MP4. Yes i know by requesting this I'm asking for higher bandwidth requirements but this can be controlled by how the file is converted, plus I have 5Mbps upstream capability and soon it will be 10Mbps upstream capability. I need more quality with an HD format, Thanks!

If you do not want SS to transcode then turn it off!
You just need to make sure the client player can read the native format.
SS transcode's for Web player (JW player) which will only play flv or mp4 containers.

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.
