I too would like to see this.

The subsonic android app is getting disappointingly little attention the past 5 months, especially considering google's release of ICS as well as the style guide. There are quite a few features subsonic should be taking advantage of that it isn't, this being one of them.

I love the app, but if it isn't going to be getting the attention it deserves, perhaps sindre should consider working with someone that will push the necessary updates to subsonic if he would like to focus on the server side of things..

This is essentially a plea for updates, please please update the subsonic app!

Came here to suggest both of these things (Lock screen controls and ICS UI update). The app is mostly perfect, but having upgraded to an ICS phone and seeing other apps taking advantage of the lockscreen controls makes me wish Subsonic had them. It would also be nice to have an integrated menu button, with the menu button being deprecated as of 4.0.

Knowing Subsonic is GPL, I was thinking of taking a look at the source and trying to add it myself, but I guess the GPL only applies to the server, and not the app. Not entirely sure why, I guess it's something to do with the app usage requiring a licensed server, but the app itself is free on the Play store. It's a shame that it hasn't been updated in quite a while now, I would be interested in contributing to it since it's one of my most used apps.

The android source code is available... I don't know where offhand, but it is available out there.

wjoe, if you do end up doing some work to add these features, would you consider including the widget made here:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8963

I'm running this build and it works just fine, the original subsonic widget is just kind of ugly :/

There's no way to change the design of the lockscreen controls using the API, as far as I know - it just uses the system theme, so on stock ICS it'll look like stock ICS, and on a HTC phone with Sense it looks like Sense. Anything beyond that sounds pretty difficult, and a bit of a hack (see anything that used lockscreen controls pre-ICS, like WinAmp).

I have found the source code now (wasn't on the main Sourceforge page, but is within the SVN pages), so I'll look into this when I get the chance.

Edit: Looks like someone else has already made some changes to use the ICS style, and added the menu button here - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8497&start=105 but it's also gone quiet. Might try and add the lockscreen controls to this source instead, though I don't want to fragment things too much.
