Subsonic Forum

Right when when you tell subsonic to download album art, it gets saved as cover.jpg. I would like an option to define the file name of the file that gets saved. I want mine to be folder.jpg since I use other programs that will utilize this music also. Things like XBMC look for folder.jpg, along with other common programs.

I would like to elaborate on this request, since it is also XBMC related. I would like to allow an option where you can define the album art preference, for example; some of my albums have embedded art, folder.jg, and cdArt.jpg. For some reason cdArt.jpg is always chose, which looks strange.

I would like to be able to define the priority, or possible exclusion.

1. Embedded
2. Folder.jpg

Ignore cdArt.jpg may achieve what I want in the end.

With regard to the folder.jpg - have you added the mask "folder.jpg" to the cover art settings in settings/general?

Yeah, it is there by default. can I do -cdArt.jpg to ignore cdArt.jpg?

I even tried to remove all extenations, so it would be cover.jpg and folder.jpg only, but it still picks up cdart.jpg over the embedded artwork.

It sounds like Subsonic is choosing the art alphabetically.

I believe Subsonic uses image files in the same directory before it checks to see if there is embedded cover art.

It would be nice to be able to add "<embedded>" or something to the list of file names in the Cover Art mask setting to be able to control when the embedded art is checked. But currently it is not possible.

As the first poster asks, is there a way to get Subsonic to name downloaded covert art to folder.jpg instead of cover.jpg? Sonos doesn't play nice with cover.jpg files...

Simple answer is no (without modding) but has been requested (by me as well as others)

Is it a pain to mod yourself?

I haven't seen any mods to change that so it may be hard coded into SS (which will mean a rebuild).
I just let SS download and then change the file name to folder.xxx - inconvenient but not too much of a problem.

Nope, that's what I have to do as well then. I will probably run som simple batch appl to rename all existing files.

I would like this option as well.

I would like to choose where downloaded album art goes as well. Either a file location or a ID3 tag would be fine. And a means to choose or priorize embedded album art in the settings mask would be a good companion feature.
