Wouldn't it be very useful function to be able to use Subsonic in our LAN/WAN network to also act as a Media DLNA/UPnP server. WOW :D
To take benefit from all the streaming/playing function one find to day's gadgets, Receivers, DVD players, TV's.. etc.
Maybe to integrate a lightweight like, MiniDLNA/MediaTomb into Subsonic. I guess most of the basic functions is already there..

Thnks

Sounds nice, but why not just run minidlna? I see no need to integrate it into Subsonic.

Sure, one could install minidlna, and maybe many other DLNA servers, but why not have this functionality available in Subsonic.!!
Most of the function, like indexes, screens, transcoders, etc .... is already there..
Beside, who the fuck cares what u mean...

Count me in on this feature. I want DLNA with transcoding for use with my home theater system. Most of my files are 96K 24Bits in Apple lossless and my receiver wants wav or flac. I stream to my iPhone via cellular at 128Kbits. Subsonic would be ideal for this because it already supports the necessary transcoding but not the DLNA interface.

I use minidlna on my Linux box and it works great, it's very lightweight and stable...

These programs do serve different purposes.

Subsonic doesn't display photograph media :)

It may save a few cycles to integrate DLNA into Subsonic and while I would welcome it, I think there are priorities that Subsonic needs work on rather than reinventing the wheel.

I'd love DNLA support. Not from the Subsonic server but from the android / iphone client. It'd be good to be able to use the subsonic client as the source and the controller and then push link via via wifi to a target eg: Amp / or TV. (The client would cache the song and send the uPNP link to the amp as itself as the source)

That way if I was round a buddies house I could effectively proxy my music collection to his sound system.

Yes I would like both options, I just discovered bubble upnp app and it does this using android device as the server which is cool but it would be nice to have built-in to app
