Why not Photos?

It's already a media server for our music and videos, so why not add a media folder for our pictures as well. It'd be like a digital wallet that you can access all the pictures of the kids birthdays and soccer games from anywhere.

I think this would be a pretty simple add on for the web interface, but I don't know enough about writing mobile apps to know how easy it'd be for say the android or iPhone application.

i know this is a wee bit old but you can add a media folder name it pictures. (the file setup here is based on Ubuntu, but should still work using other systems)
example
name location
pictures /var/pictures

and just when uploading a picture just add a sub folder
example

upload from
c:\picture\picture.jpg
upload to
/var/pictures/trucks

an when click on the file pictures it will bring the sub folder up and just click it and just like that you now have a true picture, video, and audio media server.
