first of all I must say that I really love subsonic very much and use it several hours every day. Thank you for this great software!
I use subsonic almost solely to listen to audiobooks using my android tablet. But sometimes when I'm not at home I would like to listen to my audiobooks using my android smartphone. Unfortunately there is no possibility to sync the playback-time of a specific audiobook between several devices. I think it would be an awesome unique feature, if subsonic supportet this!
I imagine it to work like this:
You have the option to declare several files/albums as being one audiobook which enables subsonic to treat these files differently from normal music-files. If there is an audiobook declared, it's playback-time is synchronized automatically with the subsonic-server, no matter which player (smartphone/tablet/browser) you use. This synchronization could be done periodically (e.g. every 10 seconds) so that you can stop listening to your audiobook on one device and resume it on any other device without almost any gap. There could also be an option to only synchronize when being at home since the subsonic-server might not be accessible from the internet or since synchronization might cause too much traffic if you are using mobile internet access.
What do you think about this feature? I'm aware that this is something very special and would require a lot of work but as I said this is definitely a unique feature which no other streaming-server offers. And for people who listen to audiobooks often this is an absolute killer-feature!
