Unlimited Search Results

I have a very large collection of songs housed on a server with 5 external hard drives. I absolutely love Subsonic. All of my music is sorted properly by folder structure Artist // Year-Album // Song #-Title so Subsonic works great. My only wish would be that the search results were unlimited. There are several times where I search for a song and with multiple live versions, cover songs, greatist hits albums and compilations sometimes I cannot display all of the results. A little more functianality around the search, such as choosing if you are searching for an artist, album or song may help narrow the search. Then show all results, even if there are pages of results. Does anyone know if this will be improved in future versions.

Thanks

Phil...

I guess that if Subsonic would and rather than or all terms in the search box the short list would be very helpfull.

Having an 'advanced search' feature has been requested tons of times. Since people create new threads instead of searching the forum, I feel forced to copy and paste the same reply in a handful of threads to reach people subscribing to the topic.

I've just added an 'advanced search' interface to my Subsonic mod, see viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9777&p=50566#p50566.

It allows for combining some twenty different criteria when searching for tracks, browsing all results, and adding all of them for playback. The mod is documented at http://dilerium.se/musiccabinet/.

Hi Hakko,
good that you step in as it helps to clarify the feature request at least how I perceive it. Unlimited search or anding the key words is not the same as an advanced search. My standard frontend is my Android phone with pretty limited screen space, thus I am not interested in an advanced search that takes up a lot of screen space but ideally a single google like text box where I can enter anything - artist, year, album, song title, or any combination thereof, ideally with fuzzy search capabilities - and the resulting list is ranked accordingly (and I know ranking fuzzy searches on multiple attributes is difficult). The problem right now is that the more keywords I enter, the more likely the searched song is not on the list as there is a limit but no ranking algorithm.
Best regards, jol

Even after reading through 20+ different threads on the same topic, I don't think I've seen that feature request in particular.

Now that I've written the back-end logic for this kind of search, one could imagine different ways of exposing it to apps, too. Either a custom app interface built for small screens (I'm sure it could be done) or a text based mode that allows you to enter a query like "artist:The Beatles year:1968-1970" to only have tracks returned matching that, for example. Maybe you should start another thread for such a feature request, and be very clear about how it differs from previous requests. I believe that this thread in particular is closer to what I've implemented than to what you're suggesting.

Make unlimited search of results! Search finds only 25 compositions. At whom big collections, search results are equal 0
