I was recently cleaning up my music library (Which is organized by artist name/album name/track) and noticed that I had several instances where an artist had multiple folders, for example because of different versions of the name (Mozart vs Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) or special characters (Sigur Ros vs Sigur Rós).
In an attempt to clean this up, I first consolidated the existing tracks and then experimented with making symbolic links to alternate spellings/versions for a few artists:

Good:
- When browsing my music library, I no longer have to remember which version of the artist name a track is stored under, because they can all be stored under all of them
- When adding new music with a known artist name synonym, I no longer have to go clean it up afterwards, since any known variation of the artist name puts the music in the same place
Bad:
- When Subsonic (or anything else) indexes my music library now, it thinks I have multiple copies of each track.
- If I search for a track by one of these artists where I have made symbolic links, multiple copies of the track show up
So what I'm wondering is this: how could Subsonic handle a situation like this?
Or, what's an alternate arrangement where I could still get the good parts of this setup? I'm flexible.
