Subsonic to Display "Album Artist"

Hello Everyone,

I was curious, I have everything in Subsonic properly showing on the left hand side as far as Artist Folders, however, when Subsonic displays the "Top 10" or however many I choose to display on the random front page it is showing the "Contributing Artist" for the artist instead of the "Album Artist" in the file properties, forgive me for asking such a simple question but is there a way to modify this so that Subsonic displays the "Album Artist" in file properties instead?

Thanks!

You may want to post this question over on the mods sub-forum as you are correct in that SS does use the <Artist> tag (TPE1) rather then the <Album Artist> (TPE2).
Whilst this correct IMHO when displaying track info it is rather less desirable when displaying album info.
However a large number of users I suspect haven't got ALL their tags correct so it would need some form of "fallback"
eg If <TPE2> true then <TPE2>, else <TPE1> .

Oh! and the answer to your question is NO! :D

The use of "album artist" isn't standardized either, sadly. The ID3 spec is a mess and pretty much every major music software player fails to adhere to it (which means the spec is wrong).

Subsonic seems to avoid the problem by not reading album artist at all via jaudiotagger. I looked into it recently (because I wanted to use "Album artist" myself) and FieldKey.ALBUM_ARTIST doesn't always return the value which other music players displays as "Album artist". It seems like this would be dead simple to add but it's actually not completely straight-forward. Unless you go by FLAC or Ogg Vorbis or something like that of course, then it's easier!

Thank you very much for your responses! I'll look into another way of modifying my file properties then. I really appreciate the response!!!!
