Android app enhancement request

Hi Sindre,

the Android app has come a long ways since the early releases, and it's almost perfect, though there is one little feature that I'm dearly missing that's available in many other audio playback programs, and that's audio ducking as described here:

http://developer.android.com/training/m ... focus.html

Currently, when subsonic is playing music and a notification sounds, the notification sound completely replaces the playing music. In comparison, when streaming Pandora radio, when a notification sounds, Pandora teporarily lowers it's volume, but doesn't disrupt the music playback. Once the notification sound is over, the volume is raised back up to regular level. This also works very well with Google Maps Navigation, where the volume is lowered while the navigation program speaks the directions, and then the volume is restored again. The navigation use case is particularly important to me. Subsonic seems to completely ignore the loss of audio focus during the spoken navigation instructions, and continues playing music at full volume. Consequently it's often very difficult to hear the instructions over the music. I've resorted to using Pandora or Google Play while using Google Maps Naviagation, but it would be great if this capability was added to Subsonic as well.

I think that just means he wants to add playback controls into the drag down notification menu, which is different from what I'm requesting.

I agree with the OP, music docking would be helpful. I made a little dock for my phone in my car and had music streaming while driving yesterday. When I got a call the music stopped (fine with me), but when the person hung up I don't believe the music continued, while it does with the google play app.

I also tested playing music on the google play app, then clicking on the voice search, google play quieted down to let me speak, and became loud again once I was done speaking. The subsonic app just stays the same volume, making dictation impossible.

Thank you for the wonderful program and android app, I use them extensively. I tried purchasing the ad free android app today but it doesn't seem to be there all of a sudden.

Just stepping off topic for a sec but can I ask what this google play app is that you mentioned? I've heard of play for movies but is there a version for music also or is there a way to make that same app stream music as well as movies?

This: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... 5tdXNpYyJd

I've tried it, and it's no match for Subsonic. :)
