Is there any hope of getting JW Player 5.9 into the 4.7 release. Would love to be able to use the HTML5 player

I asked a similar question a little while ago.

You can update the jwplayer file, called jwplayer-5.6.swf and just replace it with the new version...

But that won't give you HTML5, it will give you the latest JWplayer-Flash-player... It is improved alright, but no HTML5.

the new player is much better than the previous one, I am currently using 5.10 and my frame rate issues and pause issues are gone :-D

Nice, I wasn't aware the 5.10 was out! Upgraded accordingly myself :-)

Thanks for the feedback, that's good to hear. I guess I'll give it a go when I get the chance.

Just a side note: Which upgrade method do you use? I usually just rename the player to the same as the old one so that I don't have to go into editing the SS code.

EDIT: Just redid my primary SS site. Nice.

I just update the jwplayer file, called jwplayer-5.6.swf and just replace it with the new downloaded version. However I would love to get the HTML 5 rendering option to work for two reasons..... first because FLASH looks like it is going the way of the wind with Adobes announcement Second I would love to use Safari on my iPad to stream music without having to download an app :D

Oh ya almost forgot you need the rename the new file the same as the old or it will not work

Does anyone know if this can be done on a Mac? I looked at the Application's contents, but the jwflashplayer isn't in there!

It's inside the war file /Applications/Subsonic.app/Contents/Resources/subsonic.war You'll have to use the terminal jar utility ( or the BetterZip utility ) to unpack the war, replace the file, and then repack the war ( I am not sure this last step is really needed, may be it could works also unpacked )
I did it and the new player showed up. It seems to work...Not sure about the improvements, though...
