A new design is needed. It should be flexible so that I don't need subsonic to take up a full screen just to play music. Thus it should collapse as the screen gets smaller. float this way or that. etc. That said I'm just glad I can listen to my huge catalogue anywhere without the constraints of limited sdcard memory!

I don't mind paying a monthly fee whatever it is... Subsonic need lot of improvement, especially on the GUI side. How can Subsonic don't have something so basic as shuffle ling???? :?: :?: :?: :?: The main reason why I decided to try Subsonic was to have the capabilities to shuffle all my music content from any laptop or phone whenever I have a party at home. I'm not talking about shuffle a folder content, I'm talking about all the music on my server.

I'm currently on my Trial period and so far I'm not impressed with the software. It needs improvement.

Try Madsonic. It is actively updated. New beta's come out every couple weeks or so. Lots of improvements and the author is actively answering questions. http://www.madsonic.org/

I used Subsonic till Spring 2012; now I'm back at S.S. and still read the same on the website:
What is Subsonic?
Subsonic is a free, web-based media streamer, provid.....

But when reinstalling SS "29 days left of trial"
Is it still free or isn't it??? I have no trouble paying an amount for once, but I don't like the idea of paying monthly.

If not free anymore, then it would be better to be honest on the front page of the website of SS

I believe the 29 days is for the Premium features, which I think you get free for 30 days. Once the time lapses, you will be converted to the free version.

You need to pay the montly fee if you want your own domain name. Yourname.subsonic.org so you can stream over the internet.

But...

If you happen to have a server at home like I do, use your own domain and forward port 4040 to the server where SS is installed and Vuolla! B-)

you also need to pay to use a mobile client like android or ios. free is for streaming to other computers only and without custom domain name as said in other posts. you can always use your ip address to connect rather than a domain name; the name is just easier to remember! : )
