Hey all,
I released a native Subsonic client for Mac OS X, available on the Mac App Store :
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/submarin ... ls=1&mt=12

It requires mac OS X 10.6 or later.
I'm interested in your feedback.
Enjoy.

Features :

• Stream your music from Subsonic server
Submariner is a client application which can be connected to multiple Subsonic servers to listen your music.

• Cache & Download abilities
Enjoying the cache streaming and download features, Submariner facilitates offline listening and reduces the use of bandwidth. It automatically import cached music to your local library.

• Remote and local playlists
With Submariner you can manage Subsonic server playlists as well as local client playlists. Local playlists support both mixing remote and local tracks.

• Player controls
Like every good music player, Submariner offers user interface controls to play your music. It supports volume, seek, shuffle, repeats, and handles Apple keyboard media keys to switch tracks.

• Local files management
Because music is not always in the cloud, Submariner lets you import, remove and merge your local MP3 collections.

• And more...

A Great Job guys ! thank you very much for this app

A very complete client for subsonic which exploits all features provided by the API.

It's the first version, so a little unstable with mac OSX Lion... I hope futures releases will correct few bugs.

Some Issues :

- Login Module : Problem to connect with a login or a password containing special characters like '&'... (My server is a linux...)

- Progress bar : Remaining time is not very stable, seconds are nots real seconds ;-)
No informations from progress bar when transcoding songs

- Exit app : Sometimes Crash when try to quit app

Some Improvements :

- It would be good to memorize frame layout when you quit app. For the moment you need to resize each time you launch the app
- Possibility to cache a song automatically when you play it in background
- Customize cover arts size
- Integrate an equalizer would be great !
- Possibility to modify the birate

Thanks again for your job !

This looks fantastic!

Does it have player controls and search from the top menu bar of OS X? Like YouControl and CoverSutra, respectively?

Can I edit tags?

Looks nice and great that you included a per track rating functionality, I wonder where do you store the rating? Also cool that you can have multiple servers and the chat integration is also very nice.

One thing what submariner seems not to be able to handle are subdirectories, would be good if you could add support for this.

Also the artist field shows the album and the album shows the date on my install.

The apple remote control seems not to be supported.

Hey all,

You're welcome. It's a glad that my app suits you, and I thank you all for feedback !
I started rewriting most parts of the app to implement new features and to fix bugs.

@germain35
- Bugs you noted will be added to my tracking. I know most of them.
- Possibility to cache a song automatically when you play it in background : see Preferences > Player > Enable Cache Streaming. It will import song automatically to your local library if you listened it to the end.
- Equalizer : Yes ! But hard because of signal processing operations...
- Other features will be added to my tracking for future updates.

@dcuellar
- Menu controls : work in progress. A mini-player + tracks list should be integrated into the menu bar.
- Tag processing : not for the moment. But I'm digging around audio programming for a better support for local tracks : lossless support, tag editing, etc.

@spOnge
- One thing what submariner seems not to be able to handle are subdirectories : browse the server file-system (as a tree) will come in future updates. It's needed, I agree.
- Also the artist field shows the album and the album shows the date on my install : very weird ! Can you provide a screenshot ?
- The apple remote control seems not to be supported : in future updates.

It will take some time ! I'm currently rewriting the network API for a more flexible UI. New features will comes gradually.
Updates will be available on the Mac App Store.

decided to give this app a try.

This seems like a solid start. There are some things I would love to see...namely a mini mode (but you already stated that you'll be implementing that down the road :D )

Few things I'm seeing:
* When I start playing a song and quickly move to another song, the first song doesn't stop. I then have no way to stop the first song short of exiting the app.
* When viewing "Newest" Albums, it actually doesn't sort correctly
* When expanding the tree on my configured server, the playlists wig out. Playlist names shift around willy nilly when selecting them

Other thought/request?...
When I view a folder (in my case a movie soundtrack) that has multiple artists, it shows me a different icon for every artist. It becomes difficult to add the entire album to the playlist. If I were just shown the entire contents of the folder then I could then add easier.

The question above might come down to whether you want to parse the ID3 tags or just read the file names, which would totally be up to design.

Once again awesome program and I look forward to the future of this app!

Thanks!

Does this play transcoded files?

Ok went ahead and bought it, but I have a problem sometimes when I stream a track I get this message Unable to configure network read stream.. The track well stream sometimes but once this error occurs the only way to restream the track is restarting the app or downloading any track then I'm good for one more stream.

Update
It only happens when fast forwarding/rewinding or switching songs mid song if I allow the album/playlist to play no problems.

I feel the same. I haven't seen any updates or any input from development. Definitely stay away.

This app doesn't seem to work with my 10.9 Mavericks Macbook Pro. The application opens, I can add my server, but nothing is loaded.

Is it no longer supported?
