If I want to remove ads from the app I'm asked to pay €3.40, that's US$4.44. I'm located in Germany. Are you from USA? US$ 2.76 is €2.11 at the current rate. It seems ad removal is much more expensive for European users. Or is it possible to specify national prices in the play store?

Unnecessarily personal, please stop.

I simply chose to go ad-free...many apps I only use because they're free/ad-supported, and this is an app I use constantly, and wanted ad-free. I am curious why some Play users indicate 4 or more dollars, when mine was $2.76...something fishy there too! :)

But of course your comments were completely appropriate.

My apologies in lieu of your obviously superior sensibilities.

Hello Garry, GJ51,

maybe I'm not fluent enought in english - the client works only with the internal SDcard of the S3, the 16 or 32GB you bought the phone with. It's possible to add a micro SD with up to 64GB which is the extSDcard and won't you think that's the right place for cached music?

Ciao

It seems like the new app is not open source anymore (to stop people from modding it and removing the ads?).

I'd like to have an official statement on this whole situation from Sindre.

I live in the netherlands and can confirm the price of €3,40, which, at the current conversion rates comes out at $4.438 or ~$4,45.

Unfortunately, although I am a very happy user of the subsonic project and have contributed because of this, I too am unhappy about this unrelenting unannounced change.
This discontent is further fueled by the fact that google in-app purchasements are very unreliable. If the developer fails to save these purchases (which almost never happens, and you are neither informed about this prior the purchase) then you will lose your in-app purchase when you install the app on a different device, wipe your own device and re-install the app, or even when the app is updated.

And further along let me make this perfectly clear; I do not care about 4 dollars. At all. I will gladly bless you with this amount if you think that this petty amount is worth screwing your customers over. The one and ONLY problem here is that it wasn't announced prior to the update.

I must say I need to join the growing list of those who are upset that we now have to pay again to remove the ads from the client app.

Personally I like the new look and feel but I don't think it justifies having to pay again. I will revert to the previous client.

I love Subsonic and have used it for years and of course paid for the server. Whilst I understand the need to generate income it would make good commercial sense to provide ad-free to those who have already paid for the server and hence maintain a very loyal customer base. Perhaps the way to go would be to grant ad-free to existing users but change the charging policy for new users of both server and client app. Probably not easy to administrate though as there would need to be some correlation between registered server users and Google Play users which is unlikely to be simple.

An official comment from Sindre would be very useful and might serve to clear the air from the increasing number of rather frustrated users.

I must concur.
As I do not own an Android phone I cannot really comment further but a change of use without informing the users via
an announcement and/or changing the info on the main web site seems to me be very bad form :(
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

Sure it is... you can set the cache location in the app's settings menu. So set the location to the ExtSD location...

That one's easy enough, I do the same thing on my EVO LTE. Go into your settings and change your "cache location" setting; on my phone it's /sdcard2/subsonic/music but your path is probably different since you're on a Samsung device.

I'm in the US and it's asking for $4.44. Maybe the price went up?

I also want to add my disdain for the sudden change. I have also paid for the full server (~$15) and I don't understand why I have to pay AGAIN for something I already purchased. I'm not too concerned about the price but it's the principal of the matter. Why did the terms suddenly change, without warning or discussion?

Sindre, please explain.

Very Bad, Sindre for dumping Ads on us without any warning. Thats one BAD Karma!!! I have been influencing my friends and family to install your app and server, for all the great work you have done and setting a great example for running an OSS project...but this is going down the slippery slope. I am going back to the previous open source version. Thats good enough for me. If I really need the facelift, I'll make those changes myself in the OSS version.

I made my donations for the server and I feel I deserve to get the Android App with no Add support for FREE.

It would have been a whole lot easier, far more profitable, and far less offensive to have just raised the minimun donation required for the server fee after the 30 day trial rather than insult the entire user base.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
The lack of announcement is worrisome.

thanks, but i've been using the line you posted here since stohzer posted it months and months ago in his transcoding thread with no issues until i purchased a galaxy nexus running android 4.0. it mostly worked on ics but has gotten pretty much unusable on 4.1 and up currently. it just jumps to the next track in the playlist at random points and even transcoding to mp3 from flac with original subsonic settings doesnt work right with skips and stops etc. im pretty sure at this point its more to do with the device itself and not having an external sd card maybe. any other ideas though would be greatly appreciated. maybe i should post this in that thread tho rather than this one.
