Hi Pha and thank you for this very handy tool. There are a few things I would like to address, perhaps you could comment on those:

- it seems that when using SSL connections (httpS) with an unsigned certificate on the server side it just keeps asking whether one REALLY wants to connect; even installing the certificate on the client side does not seem to do anything - perhaps you could make this warning stop after having clicked them away twice, otherwise browsing is just not possible

- is there any way to look at your code? Since your application collects server and login information it would be great if you could provide some comfort by showing that these data really don't go anywhere besides to the server's IP. While I am aware that opening source this early in development might not be the standard way to do it, for an application such as this I guess it's the only way to get widely used

- is it possible to stream FLAC with this? Or is it limited by Flash's love for mp3?

Thank you,
ff

Great job, pha9992001. I'd been using Firefox's Prism add on to give me a nice Subsonic desktop experience, but the update to 3.6 introduced a lot of problems  . So, I was glad to find this. Well done. I've been using it all week, and I have to say that it's a great little app. I've noticed that it seems to take a while to start back up after pausing, but I'm very happy otherwise. Well done.

FLAC A-OK

Oh, and flacflac, it plays whatever Subsonic plays. If you set up the transcoding in Subsonic, you'll be fine. I'm listening to a flac file right now :)

i'll look into the ssl issue, but there might not be a way around that.

flac, don't think flash supports it, but as artokosan mentioned, as long as its being transcoded to mp3, flacs should work.

Be warned this app is written using all the OOP best practices, like keeping the entire project in a single file, no code comments, etc. :D

Hi,

Looks nice!! But indexing on my large music collection(700G) took 'very' long. Almost 10 min or something.

Superb!

It has great potential, I also can't wait to see how you can grow this app, I love it :)

Alan.
If I am more stupid than you, does that make me better at something than you?

10mins, ouch. That's quite a large collection. I have a 200+ gb collection with about 800 folders in the index and it takes about second or two to come up.

This is wonderful. Am using it right now on Mac OS 10.6.2 without any problems.

0.020 released...

Postby pha9992001 » Wed Jan 27, 2010 4:51 am

- a couple of small bug fixes

- search tab is now functional

- miniplayer mode created

- changed label for 'server info' tab to 'preferences'. Added option to keep player always on top while in miniplayer mode

if you already have the app installed, you should get an update notification the next time you start up the app, if not you can install the app from:

Another great update :-)

I have one usability request:

If I'm playing album A and want to listen to album B instead, I currently have to:

1. Current Playlist > Clear Playlist
2. Music Library > Add All to Playlist
3. Click the play button

What about adding a "Play all" button which does all three (like in the Subsonic web interface)?

Keep up the good work!

Great little app! I can see this going far. I think some others have hit the features that I was looking for like minimize to tray. Would it be possible to add save playlist options and/or ability to control with media keys?

I can definitely see this becoming my main music player for all my desktops/laptops seeing how I stream all my music from my home server anyways. :P
