Thumper runs fine here, but all I get is a listing of the artists inside of my subsonic instance.

When I click on an artist the albums column shows a loading indicator, but nothing is happening.

The subsonic log doesn't show anything about this problem.
Are there any thumper-logs that might show the problem?

Got the same problem, seems to happend to every folder that has an empty subfolder inside

Hi rixton,

Thumper expects your music to be structured such that you have an Artist Folder > Album Folder > Audio files. This may be the cause of your issue.

Suggestions for improvement

Postby mlanner » Sat May 14, 2011 4:55 am

Hi Thumper,

Great app! I have a few suggestions to improve it.

* Shuffle control in player settings.
* Repeat control in player settings.
* Make it simpler to perform multi-selection of songs to add to the play queue in album and playlist views. For example, add a checkbox next to each song and/or introduce a "Select All" button. Also, the command Cmd + A would be nice.

Thanks!

Hi mlanner,

Thanks for the suggestions! I hope to add Repeat and Shuffle control buttons at a later release. I'll also see what I can do about a CMD + A to select all tracks.

Currently, if you click the "+" without any tracks selected, all songs from the album/playlist will be added to the current playlist. Note that you can also click and drag songs to the current playlist.

Thumper,

Ah ... That's too obvious. ;)

I completely didn't realize that just hitting the plus sign would add all songs. I thought I had to select them first, then hit the plus sign.

Thanks!

Gee that sucks...

I have all my folders organized in "Artist - Album/*.mp3"

It works fine with subsonic. Will thumper always rely on this structure?

Ok, change some folders to the desired structure and it works now!

Even the multimedia keys work - nice!
Who is annoyed by iTunes starting when using the mm keys:

Some feature requests:
- support for growl
- show the current version in the about dialog
- streaming statistics (bytes transferred, etc)

Nevertheless - looking really good!

That is great to hear swentz!

Thanks for the feature requests. Grow support is on my personal list, so it should be added soon!

I was loving Thumper until...

Postby Jokestr » Wed May 18, 2011 6:12 pm

it stuck out it's hand this morning and asked me for $10! And I believe it's the beta version that is asking for money. Jeez, that was short-lived...how about a free version for those who adopted the beta? I'm not sure this product is worth that much (to me) at this point.

Hi Jokestr,

Thanks for looking at Thumper, I very much appreciate you taking advantage of the beta period for Thumper.

The beta period for Thumper-1.0Beta1 expired 5/14/2011. The application is now available in the Mac App Store for purchase. If you like Thumper and would like to see it improved upon, please support its future development by purchasing the App. If you don't feel that way, please send me an email explaining why.

Please remember that there are some very adequate free clients available. If you're looking for a free client, I recommend SubAir.

I do like your point about hooking up users that helped with Beta testing. If you commented on this thread or sent me an email prior to 5/17/2011 with any comments, please send me a PM and I'll hook you up with a promo code.

Thanks again for the comments everyone.

Native FLAC (including high rez) Support?

Postby manwithaplan » Tue May 31, 2011 6:42 pm

Sir, before I buy this on the App Store today, I'd like to know if it supports playback of FLAC without transcoding, ie native FLAC and WAV for that matter, and also AIFF. I'd also specifically like to know if it can handle 24bit/192KHz FLAC files and WAV files directly, without transcoding. Obviously, iSub cannot do so on iPhone/iPad, so we are suffering with transcode to MP3. Just want to make sure that Thumper is different in that regard.

Thank you, looks interesting.
Subsonic 5.2.1 on 2009 Apple XServe w/ Yosemite Server 10.10.5; 96GB RAM. Lots of Music - High Rez, native DSD streaming, and otherwise.

Hi manwithaplan,

Since I don't have any FLAC or WAV audio personally, so I can't tell you for sure if it will play in Thumper. If the audio is not transcoded, and it can be played through QuickTime on the client, then it should work.

If you PM me a subsonic account and URL, I would be happy to test it on some files to make sure.

Thanks,

Daniel

WAV's will play with Quicktime, FLAC does not. You need FLAC libraries I believe. I will wait until you can play FLAC natively before purchasing this app. Thanks. Please get a FLAC, not hard to find, and see about upgrading your app. Rip a CD with dbpoweramp on windows or XLD on a mac, and you'll have options for FLAC lossless output.
