AW: Subsonic 4.7.beta2 released

Postby wannabe_nerd » Sun Jun 10, 2012 2:23 pm

I have a serious Problem: my hole Video-Directory is not displayed anymore. Is this a bug? Even after a full scan including a restart afterwards none of my video-files is displayed.

My system: win 7 64bit 8fb ram

One thing I noticed that I am happy about:

The random albums now include many more albums than I had before. There was an issue in 4.5 (well, still is an issue, I guess) where only certain albums decided to show up in the random tab in home.jsp. That seems to be fixed. Right now I would love the added features of 4.7 but the stability of 4.5.

We're getting there! :D

Make sure you manually set your folders in Settings > General.

Mine updated without problems. All my video files show and play on 3 different sites.

If you're using network shares for storage be sure to update the logon service credentials as an SS update on Windows always resets the service to local user.

EDIT: Just checked my 32 bit WHSv1 site and the mpg videos on that site are broke. I'm sure it's an ffmpeg problem that I can fix by downloading the latest ffmpeg build.

I did that. I already experimented a little bit with my folder settings but I It's still the same. Subsonic doesn't display any of my videofiles

I concur with Gary. My videos display more than fine, albeit I have a development server set up, so one or two don't have proper codecs installed, which I expected.

Are the file extensions properly listed in the Settings/General/Video files box?

Yes the file extentions are definitely correct . I try some last scan first and after that I'll download a newer version of ffmpeg...

I'm having issues with my whsv1 site. I can see all the videos but I can't get them to play. The old Video not found white line error.

Yes I was a bit lacking in my report:
The playlists in question are my old 4.6 playlists - 4.7 can see them fine in the import dialogue - select file - shows up next to choose file - hit OK - nothing :(
I created a small playlist in 4.7 and that shows up :?
Anyone know where these "new" playlists are stored? - as we seem to have lost our old defined playlist folder - are they in the DB? -
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

So after downloading the ffmpeg 2012-05-30 git-6668ef7 i startet a new scan of my Media Libary and there are still no Videos shown by subsonic :-/
I Also experimented a bit because my Video-Files were stored as follows: "F:\Videos von F&F" In this directory i have several SubDirectories. All scans i made so far did not help, so i tried to scan the subdirectories first. But this didn't help either :-(
At least i can step back to 4.6 and wait until the 4.7 stabil-release.

I can't get any of my avi or mpg videos to play on whsv1 32 bit install. Same videos play fine on 64 bit sites.

I discovered an interessting issue: it seems that the MediaScanService has problems with Directories which only contain Subdirectories.
on top it can't handle most Videofiles on my server :-/ i have much mkv-h264 but also some avi (mostly xvid) and mp4 Files, but none of them is shown by Subsonic and i already tried serveral workarounds ....

I installed 4.6 again now because i use Subsonic as much for videos almost as for listening to music.

Edit:

Could it be possible that Subsonic doesn't scan Mediafolders recusively anymore? That would explain why some of my Video-Files are displayed while other (e.G in subdirectories) aren't...

thanks for the great job done on this version !!

I'm using tomcat for my deployment and in a period of 3 hours the java process has hanged 4 times. At some point it starts to consume all CPU it can get and then stops serving requests. When it happends subsonic is completely unresponsiveness and the only thing I can do is restart tomcat.

How can I provide useful debug information?

thanks!
