I am not sure if this last update broke something, but judging by the nature of the error I am guessing that I just recently came across this issue and it has always been there. In a specific podcast feed I have been getting a NPE trying to load it. I tracked it down and it appears that the files have been deleted at some point (no idea when/how), causing a problem with calling createJaxbChild on a null MediaFile element. The fix was extremely simple if you want to include it in the next release that would be awesome: https://github.com/daneren2005/Subsonic ... 935fd34e77. I am sure that at least some of the help forum requests for NPE's have been related to this.

I just did a clean install of beta 1, and it scans my music folder, fins a ton of music, but I can't view any of it. Everything is blank where music should be. I've tried it in Chrome, and IE - nothing. I've restarted the service and still nothing. Any ideas?

nevermind....for some stupid reason, my admin account wasn't given access to the music folder by default - no idea why that would even be a default option.

Beta1 looks good. Keyboard shortcuts are cool. I like the new layout too.

Some feedback:

1. The size of the play queue is (and always has been, IMO) too small. Can this be configurable?

2. The row of options at the bottom of the play queue should be more accessible, i.e. not at the bottom of the play queue. Would be great if it were just always visible. Or a sliding popout thing even.

3. The bottom frame area seems like space that's too empty, with tons of space between album cover/name/artist, then the Back/Play-Pause/Forward, and the time and volume. Also, no bar showing a song's progress still.

4. I really, really, really want to be able to connect to jukebox from a mobile client!

I've had this issue with non-beta releases. I add all my folders, it scans them all, and tends to leave out the 1st in the list (which is always my main Music folder). I just delete, re-add, re-enable, re-scan, and it works.

Last.FM is quite useless for finding album covers for my classical music collection. It has yet to find one. Use Google or Amazon, or better yet, give us a drop-down choice list.

This UI is MUCH better than it was before. I hated the interface before and actually moved away from Subsonic after using it for years. I may not be the majority, but here are 2 suggestions I think could make it great (doesn't necessarily have to be a default option - but something users can turn on).

When I move my mouse to the bottom of the screen to hit next/previous, the playlist window slides up. Not a huge fan of that. I would love the option to make something smaller like in iTunes (or maybe use the side menu to show upcoming songs?)

Also, under "Index", instead of listing it this way, would it be possible to add a view of ALL songs, sortable by artist/song/album/etc? Basically a full view of all songs, that I could essentially sort by Artist and scroll through, like so:

Other than that, great job. Maybe some more options to add in the side menu bar? Adding playlists in there, and the ability to drag songs from the Index view into playlists would be great (similar to google music's playlist sidebar)

Please provide an option to disable Last.fm integration. It is useless for me and pulling incorrect artist photos.

Also, the playlist window sliding out from the bottom is bad, I'd prefer if it was static.

Thank you!

One thing that I haven't seen people mentioning is the removal of shared ratings between users. This is really disappointing for users on my server, because most people only rated about 5 albums each, but it was a nice way for people to find music that other users had liked. It sort of defeats the point of the ratings system if other people can't see them. Starred songs and albums already seemed to be available for individual favorites.

Has "recently played" also gone the same way? As far as I can tell it either isn't registering things at all or is broken in some other way. Users on my server liked using it to see what other people were listening to that week, but it currently seems to have stopped registering. I'd really appreciate if it was not made user specific, because again, it's a nice way of seeing what other people like.

Yep, recently played stop working for me too. Also the "play count" does not work

Under user settings, did you check all the boxes under 'Allow access to these media folders'?

I love the release as well.

Could I request some more support added for playlists? Would really appreciate easier methods to add things to playlists instead of the 1 way I see which seems to be select all songs then select add to playlist from dropdown which is only located when viewing an album. Would love to see under artists when you are viewing all albums an option to add all to playlist where you have Play all, Play Random, and Add All options. Same thing for when viewing album if you could add link to same location that can add selected to playlist or just a quick add all to playlist option. Its just very inconvenient and inefficient with its limited options to add things to playlists in its current state.

Also thought it would be great to see more options when hovering over an album. Right now looks like you only have a play button pop up which is great to quickly play something but would it be possible to also add a shuffle and playlist button to choose from as well?

Thanks a lot for all the great work, love this product.

The next beta will have these video features:

- Selectable audio tracks
- Subtitles support
- Adaptive bitrate streaming
- Fullscreen support
- Scrubber thumbnails
- No Flash required
- No upfront conversion necessary (but still possible as a fallback)
- Works in Chrome, Firefox and Safari (haven't tried other browsers yet)

I'm really excited about this, as I think it's a major step forward for video in Subsonic :)

I'm estimating to have a new beta release ready within a week or two.

Amazing stuff! Really looking forward to the next beta!

Sindre,

Really like the direction that 6.0 is taking - good job.

Think there might be a bug that needs addressing though; 99% of my music collection is stored as FLAC and transcoded using the following setting:

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i %s -map 0:0 -map_metadata 0 -b:a %bk -v 0 -f mp3 -

However, all transcoded files show 'Infinity:NaN:Nan' as a track length when playing through the HTML5 player

Image

Code: Select all
04/03/16 09:00:08 GMT]   INFO   PlayQueueInputStream   ed listening to "At the End of a Century\1-02. Dans le style d’une Sarabande mais sans rigueur.flac"
[04/03/16 09:00:08 GMT]   DEBUG   TranscodingService   Created tmp file: C:\Windows\TEMP\subsonic7418820846410057722.flac
[04/03/16 09:00:08 GMT]   INFO   TranscodeInputStream   Starting transcoder: c:\subsonic\transcode\ffmpeg -i C:\Windows\TEMP\subsonic7418820846410057722.flac -map 0:0 -map_metadata 0 -b:a 320k -v 0 -f mp3 -

I have tried with the recommended transcoding settings, but there's no difference in the UI:

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i %s -map 0:0 -b:a 320k -v 0 -f mp3 -

MP3 tracks that don't need transcoding seem to have no issues. Any ideas?

This https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Su ... C_playback works fine on my server with flac files. But you would need flac.exe and lame.exe in your transcode directory. I have not tried this with windows but you can get the files here http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/flac ... .1-win.zip and here http://www.rarewares.org/files/mp3/lame3.99.5.zip

Thanks nildin, but this doesn't help unfortunately. Given those settings, I can play a track (as before)

Code: Select all
[04/03/16 13:20:41 GMT]   INFO   PlayQueueInputStream   ed listening to "Jar Of Flies\04. No Excuses.flac"
[04/03/16 13:20:41 GMT]   INFO   TranscodeInputStream   Starting transcoder: c:\subsonic\transcode\flac --silent --decode --stdout D:\Public\Music\Alice In Chains\Jar Of Flies\04. No Excuses.flac
[04/03/16 13:20:42 GMT]   INFO   TranscodeInputStream   Starting transcoder: c:\subsonic\transcode\lame --silent -h -b 320 -

and as with the previous 1-step settings the track plays but the UI is broken:
