Version = Windows running on port 1967
OS = Vista
FireFox = 3.0.4

At first I got no Album Art or Flash Player and clicking play or add yielded nothing.
After deleting all players and creating a new one I still had the same conditions. I went back in to the player settings and gave it a name and now the flash player appears.

Still no ability to get a song into the player though.

I started up IE7 and everything works well. Went back to FF and now I have album art?!

Visited the Longtails site and all tests ran successfully.

I decided I'd give it a go and debug it for you... fired up Firebug and enabled the script debugger and lo and behold it all started to work!? No Errors!

Turned off Firebug and it continues to work. I am posting all of this here in hopes it will shed some light on any potential issues you may be trying to work through.

I am also having problems with the Flash Player. It displays (Flash 10 installed) but it won't play. I am using Firefox 2 on Fedora 7. The test on the JW FLV Media Player site don't work. They display the player and it plays but the links don't work.

I am loving the new ajax playlist control. I do have a few problems/suggestions.

1. The playlist no longer scrolls to make the playing song visible.
2. It would be nice to have a "Play Next" button so you can add a song after the current song. Adding a song and then moving it up though a long playlist can be a pain.

Loving the beta, Thanks.

Some time the songs time will jump from 9:02 to 9:03 and back. This is going on with every song i have.

I did an uninstall and reinstall and that didn't fix it.

Edit
It seems to only happen when its transcodeing the song. The image above is going from 320 to 128 if that helps

I'm seeing the same thing when transcoding.

The problem under linux relates to a bug in 4.2.x I believe. Reference: http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/fo ... -Listeners. Adding the id flashvar as player1 fixes playback under linux for me. Scan playlist.jsp in /WEB-INF/jsp for

Code: Select all
function createPlayer() {
        var flashvars = {
        ...etc

Set the id flashvar to player1 to fix playback:

Code: Select all
function createPlayer() {
        var flashvars = {
        id:"player1",
        ....etc

As a note, I tried updating to 4.3 first, to fix the problem but there seem to be some changes to the js API that prevent it from functioning, doesn't seem to recieve play updates or something like that. (Haven't looked into what exactly might be causing it).

Is there anyway that you could send the previous and next song in xspf playlist format? I am guessing right now it just sends a direct link to the song in the playlist to play? The advantages to sending the previous and next song are that you could skip forward/back in the playlist from the player's controls, also if you sent it in xspf format you could include a download link to the original song easily (xspf has a download button you can display). There was also a way to set duration in the xspf playlist and have jw player display that which would fix the transcoding time length problems (at least in 3.x).

The biggest things for me personally would be having next/forward buttons.

One last thing: I really enjoyed having a popup player as well as the embedded playlist, is it possible to include a link to detach the player, which would popup a new window with just the flash player + the current playlist? (Instead of using a full browser window for subsonic).

zeekay,

Thanks a lot for the info on bug in the JW player - it sounds like this is indeed the problem!

Regarding your other concerns: Yes I agree, but for 3.6 I will keep it as simple as possible (no detachment support, next/previous buttons etc). My main concern is making it work in all/most cases. Then we can add more whistles and bells later.

Thanks again,
Sindre

Of course! As if we don't all throw enough ideas your way to begin with, right? :D

I upgraded to the new beta and now nothing works. Can't get the flash player to stream a single file and changing to streaming won't play either and gives error that can't connect to the server from windows media player. I'm running tomcat5 on fc9 and even upgraded to the newest java sdk and still not working. I guess I'm going to have to rollback to 5 since I can't get anything to work. The flash is like the post in help where it loads shows the list but stays at the first song and nothing streams at all.

Can you please check the log? If there's a long list of "Killing stream" when this happens, then I think I know what it is. As a work-around, you can either restart Subsonic, or recreate the player (in Settings > Players).

Hope this helps

External player with playlist & WinAmp

Postby Concept211 » Sat Jan 10, 2009 2:03 pm

There seems to be a problem when you have the player set to use "External player with playlist" and the Bitrate is downsampled. Initially, it loads the entire playlist perfectly, but as soon as you play a song, it changes the name to the full URL.

For example:

Before Playing Track:
Jedi Mind Tricks - Muerte

During/After Playing Track:
stream?player=2&pathUtf8Hex=5c5c5374617.....7033&suffix=.mp3

I love this new feature, but it's not that useful if the Artist - Track doesn't display properly while playing the song.

Another note, it seems that the "External player with playlist" works perfectly if you set it to not change the Bitrate. So it seems that during the conversion process on the server, it may be losing some meta info or something in the newly encoded file/stream. Maybe that will help to narrow down the issue.

Keep up the great work, Sindre!

Concept211: I don't think this is a new problem. It's been discussed here.

Cheers,

Love the new features you've added, in particular the working tray icon with the more complete control panel (in Vista)! Adding an option to move the subsonic directory would be awesome.

The new flash player is great too - much more intuitive than the previous.

Also, just discovering the Podcast feature hah.

Thanks for all your hard work.

External Player Error

Postby ghjames » Tue Jan 13, 2009 3:43 am

The new integrated player looks and operates great. The new release also has fixed up the truncated albums label when running IE.

The problem I'm having is with the external player (both types). I get an error immediatly indicating that the stream is corrupted.

Platform: Windows Server 2003
Install: Tomcat WAR
External Player: Windows Media Player

Since I play both music and video I've reverted back to 3.5. I'll be watching for the next update.

I *think* this has been fixed in the upcoming 3.6.beta2.
