I'll add an option to suppress content length estimation in the next Subsonic release, since this causes problems for some clients.

Thank you for the option! How would disabling content length affect network robustness, for example over cellular on the Android app? How did previous versions of Subsonic operate?

That shouldn't be affected at all. Content length is optional in http, and prior to 4.6 is was never set for transcoded media.

Is that an easy modification to make? Could I make that change on my existing 4.6 install?

I have a suggestion or bugfix (depending how you look at it) for the next version. As it relates to the Android app (perhaps the web player as well?) if you have bandwidth set to unlimited, then it actually defaults to 128 for the %b parameter. Now, normally you wouldn't see this, as unlimited bandwidth wouldn't trigger a downsample for mp3s. However if you have transcoding settings that use bitrate, then any transcode will be passed a bitrate of 128... not desirable from my standpoint. I'm not sure what the proper fix for this is, but perhaps have 'Unlimited' send a bitrate value of the max available (320).

My friend just upgraded from 4.5 to 4.6 and before the upgrade he was able to share video up to around 3000 kbit/sek for .flv files.

This was for H264 version .flv files coded in around 1500 kbit/sek.

After the upgrade the transfer speed dropped to around 700 kbit/sek for same type file.

Anyone knows what the problem can be.
