I'd say the reason is that it reads meta-data (id3 tags) from all of your files. Yup, all 400.000. Then it stores that in a database for fast retrieval. The next time you scan your library (unless you move your files around on disk), it'll realize that the files are just the same as before and only read the ones you've added. It's an initial hit to make further use quicker.

Ok I know it is scanning all the id3 tags... but I've seen tools doing the same in less time. Much less time. But ok I can't change this. Lets wait... thanks for the answer =)

The first scan takes the longest, but subsequent scans seem to go faster, although I haven't actually done any timing. Why aren't you just having it auto scan at a time when you know you won't be using it? The setting is now on the same screen with "Media Folders" at the bottom. I have "Fast access mode" set and it is smokin fast.

I don't understand the question. Can you post a screen shot? I have always organized my library by \Music\Artist\Album\Track and made the folder names agree with the tags.

That may be why I don't see some of the other problems others are reporting.

Yeah, lyrics are working again, with some songs.
I sorted all my albums in the following structure
Band or singers name, for sorting reversed in name, first name
then I named the album dirctories "year - name - album title"
then the songs "01 - name - title" or "year - name - album titleCD1" for compilations
Now I've the albums sortet alphabetically, only the compilations still keep the year

and the cover art which was in the album folder and in each cd folder didn't show up
I'm aware that ID3 tags are now used but which one?
Therefore I'm looking for a possibility to select which ID3 tags are used and in which order
If someone has some suggestions?

Thanks

Could adding the ability to burn in subtitles when transcoding with mencoder or ffmpeg (if it is possible).
Also compatibility issues with the latest firefox it seams to either crash or slow down firefox 60% of the time.

Thanks.

The main screen refresh is still very annoying on a dark theme. There is still a persistent white flash just before the next set of Albums is redrawn. I think Ytechie may have made a post or two on some things he did to fix this back in ver 4.5.

I'd really like to see this fixed soon. Maybe even add some optional refresh styles, like sequentially rotating each Album cover at a set interval instead of just a wholesale redraw.

Hej,

I have a strange freeze at night when Subsonic scans my media archive. The rescan is set up every night at 3:00. The PC freezes around 3:45 at position 30000. I changed back to latest stable v4.6 and all is fine again.
The whole computer freezes at this moment and i have to hard reset, after reboot Win XP tells me about heavy fail which occured. I also checked Windows event log but there is nothing listed.

Is there some debug feature which I could activate to see more detailed information in Subsonic log?

Thanks.
