The annoying white background flash is back when the Home Random pane refreshes.

Just noticed On 4.6 it showed 100,000 hours same content on 4.7 shows 25,000 hours a difference of 75,000 hours don't know if it's a bug just letting it be known

4.6 definitely miscalculated number of hours. Don't know about 4.7.

Another "bug"

When playing music from subsonic away from the internal network using the "External with Playlist" option, I rarely ever get a progress bar. It only shows up on a few songs whereas, in 4.6 it was in *every* song no matter what.

Since updating my network drivers Subsonic has become lightning quick.. it's really amazing. Thanks a lot for that :)

Using my media organiser with the same search criteria as SS I get 9282 hrs and in SS 4.7 9280 hrs
so I would say 4.7 seems to have got that about right (4.6 14,435 hrs  )

My results are the following.

Mediamonkey 4:

Artists 7084
Albums 2554
Tracks 32877
Length (h:mm:ss) 2189:58:39
File size 245 GB

Subsonic 4.7:

1,010 artists
2,636 albums
33,674 songs
412.93 GB
2,563 hours

Big differences in bold.
This is including Videos as well, which accounts for the huge discrepancy in size, since I don't use MM for video.

The major difference in number of artists I attribute to the VA bug (feature?) which I guess just ignores artists in VA albums (I have a lot of compilations). I guess they are not indexed, and they are not searchable either.

Great release, I guess, but since 4.5 I haven't been able to update :(

1) The playback cuts off for some files when playing for the first time. Granted this was much more frequent in 4.6 but absolutely non-existent in 4.5. Mostly I get 1-2 minutes of playback and then it just cuts off. In the logs I get:

[2012-10-01 08:23:56,903] DEBUG InputStreamReaderThread - (/var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg) av_interleaved_write_frame(): Operation not permitted
[2012-10-01 08:23:56,903] WARN RESTFilter - Error in REST API: EofException
org.mortbay.jetty.EofException
...
Caused by: java.io.IOException: Connection reset by peer

4.5 didn't have any problems coping with funky connections on the road.

2) I get unicode decoding problems again, looks like this:

subsonicprob.png

This wasn't a problem in 4.5 and I guess 4.6 either. Pretty sure because now the ID3 tags are read instead of files. Anyway I have properly setup the subsonic user to work with utf-8, my songs with kanji and kana decode just fine. It's just the funky characters like 'e' with two dots above it.

so far i have 4.7 installed on my 'sandbox/ playpen' computer. which is basically identical to my main machines here.
there are a lot of features to be liked in 4.7 or at least nice to see finally.
so far my main grieves are:
- (as many others mentioned already) the new 'filing system' (i sure will not re-tag 500k+ files for a mediocre workaround in ss, while the tagging works in any other player as it should)
- search by genre is still kind of alpha-phase at best. if i type in a genre i like to see listed, it should do exactly that... and with multi-genre files list them as well if one of the genre options falls into the searched parameters. (with a big collection it just s*cks if you can't search effectively)
- last but sure not least, the scanning/ db update process takes still far to long (if it doesn't stop at all at one point). so far i hadn't had a complete file scan. a intial scan with 4.6 used to take sth in the area 6-7hrs. so far i am looking after that time at about 15-20%. you can actually watch how it gets visibly increasingly slower! starting out nicely fast and with increasing numbers of files comes to a crawl. as i said, i didn't get anything like a full scan yet. trying at the moment incremental adding etc. it is a major grief + i am worried if it will stay like that with re-scans after adding new stuff!!!! that would be a complete deal breaker since i add about 40-75gb a week.

everything else looks great and improved. nice job! i understand that major changes bring their share of probs/ bugs along. but the file sorting format and the scanning issue are well known since early beta's and i hoped they would have been solved.

I read through the thread and haven't seen this posted anywhere, so apologies if I missed it.

I see there is a checkbox in general settings to sort albums by year, but it does not seems to have the expected effect. I checked that my music is year tagged, but it still sorts albums alphabetically. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is it working for other people?

Yes I have.

Also, I seem to be unable to delete playlists (at least playlists created in 4.6). If I log in as an admin, I can delete them, and they go away for a while (until the next media folder scan), but then come back. Anyone else?

You need to delete the actual m3u files from the old 4.6 playlist folder.
