We huh.....I don't remember anyone else keep touting that all these people's problems are windows issues and has nothing to do with subsonic.....do you not comprehend that subsonic is a JAVA standalone webserver program and because JAVA is quite difficult to debug at times can just die and leave no system traces in any operating system? The demo site I have never ever touched because I run my own subsonic with almost a half terabyte of audio files alone not to mention the terabyte of video I have as well. I've been running it since version 1.x days and I'm quite qualified to know when I see a bug in this program and trust me there's a bug somewhere and probably in a library that Sindre uses that is provided open source that he just drops into his code. My point is quit telling people its with their system and has nothing to do with SS.

The same base code is in all OS versions as java is portable to all operating system environments as the war can be deployed on any unix system out there that has a java engine server compiled to run on it (tomcat, jetty, jboss). Since this is happening on several platforms points to something is breaking in the java world and has nothing to do with win7 server08 xp fedora or ubuntu.

The other thread which I read all the way through is where your lack of software development and debugging skills have shown through. This is a forum state that something is your opinion and do NOT state fact that other people's problems are their configuration and not SS related because yours just hums along.

Forgive me Master. I hear and I obey.

My apologies for offering to assist. I will refrain from posting on this topic further, as my efforts have apparently offended you. Anyone who would like my assistance or would like me to test on the server I have made available, is more than welcome to contact me by pm.

Good luck in your efforts to solve your problems.

I am actually curious about the video's.

On my home network, with 100 mbps mixed with gigabit LAN, video's are stuttering.

I would have to pause the vid, and wait 15 minutes. Then sometimes after an hour it stops playing again.

Could it be possible for the player not to restart at the beginning when it's paused? It would save me a lot of hassle.

Besides that, I have no idea why it stutters. The CPU is slow (intel Atom 330), but it never shows 100% load, even when two people are watching a movie at 1000 kbps.

And it also stutters at lower bitrates, such as 400 kbps.

Thanks, stozher, it helped me too. :)

To you all whiners; please stop!
Yes, I am an another Windows-guy, but I've been running from the early day too.
Sometimes, it got problems with SubSonic, but only because I fucked it up by myself!

I'm running the server on WinXP 32 together with other webservers, FTP, VoIP, Gameservers and more, and my SubSonic-server is loaded with 5 terabyte of media. Without any more problem, exept for slow loading of the left frame after logging in.

Its plenty of load on the SubSonic-server, and it never crash (by itself).

Have you tried out installing that version of SS-server you got problem with, on a fresh copy of OS?
I've learned that running other servers together, sometimes mess up some settings, or makes a conflict.

I agree with gary, I cant believe there is an error in SS alone. Keep it simple, and start with the easiest solutions first, like installing SS on a fresh OS.

deejay2302 wrote:The same problem as in version 4.3. The search function does not find my songs!
Another problem is, it should come. The covers look very bad quality. They can be partially read or barely know. Sindre if you ever have time or we could even contact other than here on the page, I might even give you access to my server and you you look at this.
I use a home server and he is not 24 hours online , I have to know a time when you access it.

I have currently indexed circa 177,000 (circa 1.3 terabyte) Songs in Subsonic. Not even the half of the songs will be displayed from version 4.3 even though the songs are tagged properly. Now I've installed the version 4.1 beta 1 and it has not improved.

Video to Problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVyWIivdwUU

PS: One more problem. Subsonic runs and the Tray Icon was red after some times. Status: Running. Auto-start. I can not see: Started on, Memory Used, and Server adress. I have the problem since Version 4.2. Same problem on 4.4 Beta 1.

Edit: 2 Errors in my Logfile says:

ERROR LuceneSearchService Failed to execute Lucene search.

An error occurred while reading index entry 'F ixYxi 1227367288000 ixYxi 1227367288000 ixYxi e:\Country\Country (Sampler)\Country Linedance CD 1-21\CD18\CD 18 - Bad Moon On The Rise.mp3 ixYxi 5674572 ixYxi CREEDENCE '.
ERROR SearchService An error occurred while reading index entry 'CLEARWATER REVIVAL/CCR ixYxi CHRONICLE ixYxi BAD MOON RISING ixYxi ixYxi Country'.

And my Problem was ignored.... :( Anyone have an idea? The Lucene Search does not work!!! Never can use search function, and i have 1,3 Terabyte in Subsonic. Without Search give it chaos...

Deejay, have you tried to start up the server on another computer, run it as 'localhost', add some music (1Tb not needed)..

It takes time, for the server to index all files. To install on another computer is the fastest way to test whats wrong.

deejay2302,

Stop server... delete ".../subsonic/lucene" folder and ".../subsonic/subsonic??.index" files. Start server and wait to end indexing (control process via About). This folder and files recreated after startup.

Other good idea is to delete "thumbs" folder (stop SS before)...

sindre_mehus wrote:Sorry for the complete lack of documentation of the https feature. I'll make sure it's ready for the final release but here a quick guide:

Windows:
Simply open the Subsonic Control Panel by clicking on the tray icon. Enable https on your preferred port by enabling the checkbox.

Ubuntu/Debian:
Add "--https-port=4443" to SUBSONIC_ARGS in /etc/default/subsonic

Fedora/RPM:
Add "--https-port=4443" to SUBSONIC_ARGS in /etc/sysconfig/subsonic

Hope this helps!
Sindre

I'm still having trouble figuring out how to enable https support. I'm running subsonic standalone on mac os x 10.4.11 . . . any tips on how to enable https in this setup?

thanks.

Love the app Sindre, excellent work.

Quick question to anyone that can answer: Does this REST API fix the issues with scrobbling from and android device?

linuxman wrote:Are you some kind of idiot? It takes use and a load normally to cause something to crash and just because you loaded this on a system and have it up doesn't mean it will crash.

There is a java library or process that has a bug somewhere in the code in the last 3 or 4 releases that is causing problems across different OS platforms.

It has now started completely taking my linux server down and its a whole lot harder to take a linux kernel down than windows so its a pretty mean memory leak or bug present somewhere.

I am running subsonic on linux and haven't had any issues with any of these versions. I haven't updated to the 4.4.beta1 just because I haven't had time. But I am running 4.3 with absolutely no issues. I am using the WAR file with tomcat 6.

GJ51, don't let the words of one speak for the many. I am sure a lot of ppl here appreciate all you are trying to do in helping solve the issues that they have. It takes wrong answers sometimes to come up with the right ones.

Thanks again for your continued support for the community! I know I appreciate it. :)
