Thumper -- A native OS X client for Subsonic

Thumper is caching songs just fine and I can add all those MP3s to iTunes unless they are Track 1 of an album. Everything opens with iTunes apart from something that is Track 1.

Is there any way around this?

Hrm, there might be a problem with how Thumper is actually caching the first track. Can you play it with any other player (maybe VLC?)? Shoot me an email at support@thumperapp.com and we'll get you fixed.

Howdy Thumper, you still actively developing on this bad boy? I really want to buy either this or Submariner, but both apps look to have died off on development. Before I spend that hard-earned cash-money, can you let us know if you're going to be at least going to make sure mountain lion compatibility is coming? thanks champ.

Yes, Thumper is still under development. I even have a 1.4.2 version almost ready to go. It may be ending it's end of life as product for me though.

The Mac App Store Sandboxing rules are going to force me to either 1) Remove the media key features in Thumper or 2)Start selling Thumper outside of the Mac App Store. I'm in the appeal process right now, but I don't know how long it will take or if it will be a fruitless effort.

Regardless, 1.4.2 will be released eventually with it's bug fixes and features some day.

Feature: Control Thumper from the menu bar
Bugfix: All songs are now streamed from the server, fixing FLAC playback issues

Bugfix: Change of bitrate selection in the preference pane survives application restarts

If Thumper doesn't work anymore on 10.6.x, why does the App Store show it as compatible with "10.6 or later" in the "Requirements" area on the right hand side of the App description??? Please clarify. Thank you.

I've removed the features that required 10.7 and higher, so it should now work on 10.6 again. I haven't tested Thumper on 10.6 in quite some time however, so there may be bugs and/or issues.

I plan on actively supporting the current OSX version (10.8 right now) and it's predecessor (10.7).

Yes, a 64-bit version of OSX is required.

I'd love to have an app instead of a webpage controlling my music, specifically for the use of shortcut keys. But if there's one thing holding me back from your app is the layout. To give you an idea, I have my iTunes set up usually like a list:



Since most of my time in front of my music library is sorting through thousands of songs, the simple text of song name artist etc. is all I need, but the minimalist approach I appreciate too. Is this offered in your app?

Thumper is now an open source project. It has been licensed under GPLv3, meaning it will remain free from here on out.

I've moved away from Subsonic (iTunes Match for those curious). Thumper was a fun project for scratching my own itch, but that is no longer the case. As a result I'm no longer the correct person to lead the project. This means I will not be contributing to Thumper any longer in support or development form. If you're interested in taking over the project (it is written using MacRuby), please do PM me.

I hope that Subsonic and Thumper continue to grow and develop.

I might see if I can pick this up as I am the developer of SubWiji the windows client, maybe this can be adopted as the mac SubWiji...
